Chicago, IL — As athletes from around the world compete in the Paralympic Games, the following is a statement from Kendra Davenport, President and CEO of Easterseals:
“The Paralympic Games shine a global spotlight on the talent, skill, and determination of athletes with disabilities, and the extraordinary commitment it takes to compete at the highest level. Behind every moment of competition are years of training, perseverance, and support from families, coaches, and communities who believed in what was possible.
The Games are also a reminder that achievement does not happen in isolation. Access to adaptive equipment, healthcare, coaching, and accessible opportunities all play a role in making participation possible. When barriers are reduced and support systems are strong, people with disabilities pursue goals, build confidence, and excel.
We see that same potential every day in the children, adults, veterans, and families we serve at Easterseals Affiliates across the country. The athletes competing on the world stage represent excellence in sport, but also something larger — what becomes possible when opportunity and determination come together.
We are proud to celebrate Paralympians and wish all competitors the very best as they participate in the Games.”
